Managing Director
David is a safety professional and SSE with a strong focus on exploration in Coal and Minerals. David has performed SSE duties for a number of Australia’s leading exploration companies and is able to design and implement fit-for-purpose Safety Systems. David also performs job observations and facilitates risk assessments for exploration activity.
Damian Roe
Non-Executive Director
Damian, an SSE Co Director since 2022, is a Partner at HopgoodGanim Lawyers. He offers expert commercial advice on energy regulations, land access, and native title law. Damian is the current President of the Energy and Resources Law Association (QLD) and serves on the AMEC Advisory Committee, ensuring elite negotiation.

Brent is a Geologist and SSE with over 25 years’ experience in exploration and operations for coal and construction. Having managed projects for BHP, CS Energy, and Stanmore Coal, he excels at planning programs, managing site access, and overseeing contractors to ensure all technical and legal goals are met.

Starting in coal in 1986, Neil offers 30+ years of technical and management expertise across owner and contractor operations. A former QLD Mines Inspector and an SSE for over 23 years, he is highly regarded for his passion and unique ability to engage effectively across every level of a mining organisation.

Chris is a Project Director with 20+ years leading major mining and oil projects across Australia and Asia. With an MBA and Civil Engineering degree, he blends technical skill with strategy. An experienced SSE, Chris excels at operational efficiency, statutory compliance, and driving success in project management.
Darren Walker
SSE Coal and Minerals
Darren is a Senior Executive and Director with 20+ years of expertise in technical, statutory, and board roles for ASX-listed and private firms. He sits on the board of a critical metals company and represents the industry via AMEC and the QRC, offering deep insight into mining and exploration at a national level.
Darren King
Mine Manager / SSE / OCE
Darren King has 32 years’ experience in the quarrying, construction & mining industries (base metals & coal). Darren has industry experience working as an SSE contractor, owner operator and as the Principal Representative managing contract mining operations. This includes ensuring compliance with corporate policies, the site Safety & Health Management System and the Qld Coal Mining Legislation.
John Miller
Underground Mine Manager / SSE
John holds extensive experience within operations and management, both in open-pit and underground mines. With a strong technical background and well-established knowledge in the mining industry, John has been successful in overseeing all aspects of mining operations across multiple mine sites. He holds knowledge, understanding and experience engaging with community, environment, and government.

Health & Safety Manager
Jemma is a tertiary qualified safety professional experienced in leading people in both an office setting and within mining and exploration projects. Jemma’s previous career and educational experience have allowed her to expand on her ability to build and maintain safety systems, coordinate the onboarding process for clients, conduct high level accident investigations, provide expert advice in line with current legislation and best practice.
Joel Summers
Senior Safety Advisor
With a Master of Health Science in Risk Management and extensive frontline and leadership experience, Joel has developed a reputation for building practical, effective safety systems and providing trusted advice to complex operations. His background spans system development and auditing, contractor management, incident investigations, and WHS training and facilitation.
At SSE Co, Joel’s focus will be on delivering professional, evidence-based WHS support services that strengthen our clients’ Safety and Health Management Systems and embed sustainable risk management practices across projects.
